16 April Designated As 'Day Foursquare'


New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaimed that April 16, 2011 as a 'Day of Foursquare'. New York joined with 13 other cities that previously had known these days of social networking.

"For that, I, Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of New York, proclaimed that April 16, 2011 in New York City as a 'Day of Foursquare'," writes Michael Bloombergon his site .

As quoted from Mashable, Friday (15/04/2011), Bloomberg had time to stop by the office of Foursquare in New York to celebrate the event together with staff of the company.

"Foursquare is one of the original company from New York. We are looking for innovators and entrepreneurs make their mark in this city within the next few years," writes Bloomberg.

Foursquare Day began in 2010 after a user from Tampa, Nate Bonilla-Warford concluded that the 'Four (four) Squared (squared) is 16', so that 4 / 16 should be a Day of Foursquare. Apparently the idea was interesting many other users, so determined to be a great day of Foursquare.

In April of 2010, the number of users Foursquare has reached 1 million. With the enactment of Foursquare Today, the company is hoping to continue to increase the number of users.
